I don't know about Sturgis, but Daytona had a large number of bikes other than HD. I had alot of HD owners comment on my Savage. Titans, CMC, BMW, etc. All brands were accounted for. I acutally ran into less hard core HD guys than I do at home. By hard core, I mean "it's HD or nothing else".
At the AHDRA (All HD drag race) one HD guy commented on my SO's bike. He cautioned our friend that he was going to hit the bike with his truck. I wasn't worried, I knew he wouldn't. Besides, if he did, I knew where to find him. He works at the HD shop in town. He said it's a nice bike. His friend then told him it was a Royal Star and not a Road King. He just covered his mouth and laughed. I laughed along with him.
He happened to be with the hard core HD group. One of the other guys gave a guy crap just for looking at his bike. I, on the other hand, asked him if I could take a picture of the bike and ended up sitting on the bike and the guy taking my picture on his bike. Girls can get away with a lot more. My SO just stayed away. He couldn't believe I did it. It was kind of a dare. Kept my clothes on too. "Chicks on bikes. Gotta love it." I hear that all the time.
